The ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is supported by cutting-edge innovations, from AI offside detection to support for spectators who are blind or visually handicapped. While cutting-edge technology has dominated previous FIFA World Cups, Qatar has raised the bar.

When Qatar was given the job of hosting the 2022 World Cup in 2010, the area began developing Vision 2020–23 to lay out FIFA’s commitment to using technology into the competition. The goal was to use various tech-supported innovations to improve the fan experience both on and off the pitch.

In order to create new infrastructure for the events, Qatar has committed more than $300 billion since being awarded the right to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022. Qatar upgraded the stadium’s electronics significantly for this World Cup. They have also installed 5G and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the stadiums, which will help with remote monitoring and controlling of the crowds, traffic flow, and stadium temperatures. Up to 15,000 CCTV cameras have been set up to keep an eye on all eight stadiums. To react to alerts or errors, the team has used data analytics and other technology.

Offsite detection, assistive technology for visually impaired spectators, stadium cooling technology, and balls with sensors to identify peak game speeds are a few of the integrated technologies.

Top technological advancements to see in Qatar by 2022: stadiums with advanced cooling systems The extreme environmental conditions in Qatar were one of the main issues that the FIFA committee had to address right away. To maintain a cool environment within the stadium, 7 out of the 8 stadiums hosting the Qatar World Cup 2022 have integrated cutting-edge cooling technology.
